Hlinka Guards

Hlin­ka Guards – a para­mil­i­tary organ­i­sa­tion of Hlinka’s Slo­vak Peo­ple’s Par­ty, formed in 1938. After the estab­lish­ment of the Slo­vak state, they became part of the secu­ri­ty appa­ra­tus and active­ly par­tic­i­pat­ed in the depor­ta­tion of Slo­vak Jews, the expul­sion of Roma from vil­lages and their lynch­ing. Dur­ing the Slo­vak Nation­al Upris­ing, they took part along­side Ger­man troops in actions against the insur­gents and the civil­ian population.
