The book consists of four main chapters. The first chapter, Forced Concentration Camp in the Memories of Survivors,” contains two accounts by Helena Malíková and Antonín Daniel. These accounts are separated by a recording of the song Aušvicate hi khér báro,” performed by Malíková. Next is a chapter titled Calendar of Events,” which chronologically summarizes the historical events relating to the Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp for Roma and Sinti from 14 July 1927, to 25 September 1944. The third section consists of appendices and includes transcripts of two anti-Roma regulations from the Protectorate and the German Reich. The final section comprises about two-thirds of the book and consists of lists of prisoners from the Bohemian lands (territory of today’s Czech Republic) who were registered in the camp for Roma and Sinti in Auschwitz II-Birkenau. This section is preceded by a note on how the camp office book was discovered, how it was kept, and how the data can be interpreted. In addition to the author’s acknowledgments, the book includes a foreword by Karel Holomek, who was then a member of the Czech National Council, as well as a bibliography.

Helena Malíková’s memoir was recorded by Ctibor Nečas during a visit in 1988. Antonín Daniel’s memoir was recorded in two parts and, after authorization, supplemented with a passage that Daniel wrote later.
