Marek Jandák

He grad­u­at­ed from the doc­tor­al pro­gram at the Insti­tute of Eco­nom­ic and Social His­to­ry at Fac­ul­ty of Arts, Charles Uni­ver­si­ty. His research focus­es on the his­to­ry of the Armen­ian Geno­cide, the Holo­caust, nation­al­ism, and human­i­tar­i­an work. In his doc­tor­al the­sis, A Nation State for Mul­ti­ple Nations? The Emer­gence of the Tran­scau­casian Fed­er­a­tion, Yugoslavia, and Czecho­slo­va­kia in 1918” (in Czech), he exam­ined the com­par­a­tive his­to­ry of nation­al­ism in Cen­tral Europe, the Balkan Penin­su­la, and the South Cau­ca­sus. He is the author of the award-win­ning book, Armén­ská geno­ci­da: Příčiny, průběh a osob­ní svědectví (1915 – 1922) (Armen­ian Geno­cide: Caus­es, Course, and Per­son­al Tes­ti­monies (1915 – 1922)), pub­lished in 2018. He has worked at the Cen­ter for Research on Vio­lence, Trau­ma, and Jus­tice at Charles Uni­ver­si­ty and the Insti­tute for Con­tem­po­rary His­to­ry of the Czech Acad­e­my of Sci­ences. Cur­rent­ly, he works at the Insti­tute of Art His­to­ry of the Czech Acad­e­my of Sci­ences and col­lab­o­rates with the Prague Cen­ter for Romani His­to­ries at the Fac­ul­ty of Arts at Charles University.
