Volkssturm

Volkssturm – Ger­man Peo­ple’s Mili­tia, which was formed by order of Adolf Hitler on 25 Sep­tem­ber 1944. Volkssturm — civil­ians, men aged 16 – 60 armed with light weapons, were sup­posed to pro­tect rear posi­tions, but from Jan­u­ary 1945 they also fought on the front line.
