Musul­mann, musul­man, muzl­man (from the Ger­man Musel­mann or Musel­man, mean­ing in a sit­ting posi­tion, falling for­ward in exhaus­tion – as a Mus­lim in prayer) – in camp jar­gon, a pris­on­er at the lim­it of their phys­i­cal and men­tal capac­i­ties, exhaust­ed by pro­longed star­va­tion and toil; dull, apa­thet­ic, ema­ci­at­ed to the bone.
