Legionary

Legionary (from Latin) – a mem­ber of an army unit, the so-called legion. In the con­text of the First World War, the Czechoslo­vak Legions in Rus­sia, vol­un­teer mil­i­tary units on Russ­ian ter­ri­to­ry in 1914 – 1920, which fought first against the Aus­tro-Hun­gar­i­an and Ger­man armies in the Ukraine and then togeth­er with the White Guards and for­eign inter­ven­tion­ists against the Red Army. One of the main com­man­ders of the legions in Rus­sia was Radola Gajda.
