Korčák, Josef

Josef Korčák (19212008) – politi­cian, mem­ber of the Com­mu­nist Par­ty of Czecho­slo­va­kia. Until 1968 he was a mem­ber of par­lia­ment and a gov­ern­ment min­is­ter, dur­ing the nor­mal­i­sa­tion peri­od he served as Prime Min­is­ter of the Czech Social­ist Repub­lic and Deputy Prime Min­is­ter of the fed­er­al gov­ern­ment from 1970 to 1987. He was also a mem­ber of the Pre­sid­i­um of the Cen­tral Com­mit­tee of the Com­mu­nist Par­ty of Czecho­slo­va­kia and Chair­man of the Cen­tral Com­mit­tee of the Nation­al Front.
